Shipping and Receiving Associate

Shipping and Receiving Associate


This non-exempt position reports to Shift Supervisor and performs all shipping and receiving duties for finished product, raw materials and supplies. Compare identifying information for incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.

Job Duties

• Load and unload trucks, insuring that pallets are wrapped and loaded according to
  specifications and company procedures
• Verify information on all incoming and outgoing shipments: item count, product picked,
   and product weights. Accurately record information using department procedures.
• Verify that the internal temperature of trucks arriving to pick up product meet
   specifications prior to loading.
• Monitor pick list and verify all information prior to shipping order including verifying
   customer order number, product, and quantity.
• Create labels and properly complete bill of lading prior to shipping orders.
• Verify bill of lading and packing slip when receiving inventory; enter into system and
   transport to proper location.
• Communicate with and clarify all issues with department managers.
• Assist with accurately recording and maintaining inventory
• Authorized Shipping and Receiving Associates may operate a pallet jack, hand truck, or lift
  only if trained and/or certified by Cedar’s. Operators are responsible for the safe and
  efficient operation of powered equipment at all times, ie; unload, load, move, stack, stage
  product and materials free of damage to property and goods. Forklift Operators must carry
  their certification when operating a powered lift.
• Shipping and Receiving Associates may only operate company box trucks when authorized
   and with medical examiner’s certification (must carry).
• Comply with GMPs, company and OSHA safety standards and policies
• May be required to perform other duties according to business needs.

Skills and Physical Requirements

• Able to walk, stand, bend, lift, carry, reach, twist throughout shift.
• Able to lift 20-50 pounds throughout 8-12 hour shift.
• Able to work in refrigerated environment 35-50 F degrees with exposure to damp
  conditions for duration of shift.
• Perform basic math skills with accuracy
• Able to work within time constraints and quickly adapt to changing priorities according to
  business needs.
• Be a responsible, flexible team player
• Keep work areas clean and free from debris
